Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) has decided to make Tirupati the sports hub of Andhra Pradesh.
The newly-formed board met here on Sunday for the first time in Andhra Pradesh post-bifurcation, with Chairman P.R. Mohan and directors Karanam Malleswari, Satya Geetha, Ravindra Babu, B. Hanumantha Rao, D. Chandrasekhar and Shakeel Shafi.

Speaking to the media later, Mr. Mohan said that an astro turf hockey stadium would be developed at a cost of Rs.6 crore in Tirupati.
Similarly, the proposed international cricket stadium project, now entangled in environmental issues, would be established at a different venue.
At the meeting, it was also decided to establish world class stadia in all the districts, to identify sports talent at the grassroots level and develop sports academies and hostels. The meeting also resolved to pay salaries to the staff and clear pension benefits worth close to Rs. 2 crore.
Following the footsteps of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Mr. Mohan also disclosed his assets at the meeting and announced that transparency and sincerity would be the hallmark of the SAAP’s functioning. Later, the directors cleaned the Srinivasa Sports Complex premises under the ‘Swachh Andhra Pradesh’ initiative.
