After high drama on Saturday, the competitive examination for the posts of Assistant Officers at the Regional Rural Banks (RRB), conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), went off smoothly at Kalaburagi and Hubballi.

Since a clash between local students and those who arrived from others States had broken out on Saturday resulting in chaos at the campus and suspension of two of the four slots of online examination, Kalaburagi amd Hubballi police had taken all precautionary measures.

Additional forces

“I personally visited a couple of times to ensure that no untoward incident would take place on the campus. Yet, a local student tried to mobilise others and stage a protest demanding the authorities not to allow candidates from outside Karnataka to write the examination. However, we convinced and sent him to the examination hall for writing his exam,” S.S. Hullur, Dy. SP (Rural), told The Hindu at Kalaburagi.

At Hubballi too, additional forces were deployed at the examination centre following disturbances on Saturday, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) B. S. Nemagoud.
