As many as 250 hired buses of APSRTC were halted, with the drivers going on strike demanding wage revision. Along with family members, they organised a protest at the APSRTC Complex here on Friday.

CITU State vice-president D. Govinda Rao said that the government had failed to direct the hired bus owners to revise the salaries. "The drivers are getting wages between ₹7,000 and ₹12,000. At least, ₹5,000 additional wage should be paid to each driver," he added. He also asked the government to direct the hired bus owners to ensure insurance for vehicles.
