Rs. 6,640 cr. outlay for BC sub-plan in State budget, says Minister

Govenment taking steps to waive loans worth Rs. 2 crore for 1,200 handloom weavers in Kurnool District. Substantial funds were being sanctioned to ensure economic uplift of Kapu community.

An allocation of Rs. 6,640 crore was made for the backward class sub-plan in the State budget this year, Minister for BC Welfare and Excise Kollu Ravindra said on Sunday.

Asserting that the government was committed to BC welfare, Mr. Ravindra told the media in the State guest house here, that Rs. 8,832 crore was being spent under the BC sub-plan through 21 departments last year and through 33 departments this year.

Referring to Kapu welfare, the Minister said loans to the tune of Rs. 192 crore were sanctioned to 32,000 beneficiaries through the A.P. Kapu Finance and Development Corporation. Substantial funds were being sanctioned to ensure economic uplift of Kapu community, he said.

The government was initiating measures to waive loans worth Rs. 2 crore for 1,200 handloom weavers in Kurnool district, Mr. Ravindra said.

Measures were being taken by the Excise Department to ensure sale of liquor at the minimum retail prices fixed and curb illicit liquor, he asserted. Zilla Paishad chairman M. Rajasekhar Goud and others participated.
