All the government hospitals in the State would get a facelift with a cost of Rs.45 crore, besides establishing 1000 generic medical shops across the State in a few months, Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said here on Saturday.
During a meeting with Head of Departments of medical, health and family welfare departments at the Arogyasri Healthcare Trust office here, the Minister said that the State government was also planning to commence cardio-thoracic surgeries under the public-private-partnership (PPP) mode at Guntur General Hospital shortly.
Terming the move as a step close towards launching vital health services in association with private organisations, the Minister said the government was contemplating various measures to improve the health services in the State and all such moves would be the part of the large scale reforms which the government was planning to start very shortly.
Plans were afoot to screen 95 lakh schoolchildren under the Rastriya Balika Swastha Programme (RBSK) from November 14. Emphasis would be laid on extending health services including Ayush medicare and provision of 104 ambulance services in remote pockets and all tribal areas in the State, he said.
The government will also constitute a committee consisting of high level officers to study medical and health services being offered in Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan shortly. The Minister also reviewed the progress of various wings of medical and health departments and instructed the authorities to meet the expectations of people.
