The Godavari tourism circuit, a project involving an estimated outlay of Rs. 30 crore with an objective of promoting all the tourist destinations in East Godavari district, is under the consideration of the Union government, according to Kakinada MP Thota Narasimham.

Inaugurating the 39th East Godavari District Industrial, Agricultural and Horticultural Exhibition on the premises of Rajah Tank here on Thursday, Mr. Narasimham underlined the need for promoting tourism in the district, saying that the sector had a vast potential here.

“I am using my good offices to get the project sanctioned. Once it is sanctioned, the district will find a special place in the tourism map of the State,” Mr. Narasimham said, while calling upon the people to visit the annual exhibition.

Government Whip and MLC K.V.V. Satyanarayana Raju wanted the district administration to extend the three-day Kakinada Beach Festival scheduled to be held from January 10 by four more days .

MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao, who presided over the inaugural, urged Mr. Raju to provide some means of transport to the participants of the proposed competitions during the Beach Festival.
