Rs. 110-crore weavers' loans to be waived

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will disburse Rs 110 crore to the eligible weavers under the loan waiver scheme at a special programme on August 6 in Anantapur district.

Excise, B.C. Welfare and Textiles Minister K. Ravindra has reviewed the weavers’ loan waiver scheme with the officials concerned. “Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will waive the weavers’ loans to the tune of Rs. 110 crore at Dharmavaram in Anantapur district on August 6.

Mr. Naidu will also announce some programmes meant for encouraging the handloom sector,” according to an official release. Handloom Department Commissioner Mr. Naresh and other senior officials were present at the review meet held in Vijayawada.

In December 2015, the State government announced the loan waiver for weavers.
