Rs. 100 crore not for Polavaram as a whole, says BJP leader

March 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - RAJAHMUNDRY:

BJP national council member Somu Veerraju has said it is not proper on the part of Ministers and senior TDP leaders to criticise the Union government and its budget.

He added that though the allocation of Rs. 100 crore appeared meagre for project of the magnitude of Polavaram, the amount was, in fact, allocated for continuation of ongoing works and not for the construction of the project.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Mr. Veerraju termed as improper Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s public comments on the BJP’s stand on various issues including allocation of NITI Ayog funds to the State. “The Chief Minister should ask his Ministers and leaders to exercise restraint while making statements on the budget or the Union government, which is extending support to A.P.,” he said.

“Polavaram has already been declared a national project. There should be no doubt that it will be completed in five years, and funds will be released once the State submits its detailed project report,” Mr. Veerraju said.

The Chief Minister should ask his Ministers and leaders to exercise restraint while making statements on the budget or the Union government.
