YSR Congress Party State Mahila president and Nagari MLA R.K. Roja is all set to launch a 70-km padayatra from Satravada locality in Nagari Municipality to Tirumala on Tuesday, in support of her demand for early completion of the Galeru-Nagari water project. Speaking to The Hindu , Ms Roja said the padayatra would commence at Nagari at 8.45 a.m. and conclude with the darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on December 2.
She said the Galeru-Nagari project had been the dream of the people of Nagari. But it had been shelved at several stages in spite of the acute water problem in the region because of groundwater pollution, she alleged. Hundreds of party cadres and fans were expected to join her in the padayatra.
