RO water plants handed over to villagers in Nellore

At least three RO (reverse osmosis) drinking water plants were handed over by the Meenakshi Energy - GDF Suez to the residents of its neighbouring villages under the corporate social responsibility initiatives in Chillakur mandal in Nellore district on Thursday.

These RO plants were inaugurated at Thamminapatnam village, its Harijanawada and at Lingavaram. Each RO plant has a capacity to produce 1,000 litres of potable water per hour. The initiative is aimed at mitigating the drinking water woes of all three villages.

The Meenakshi Energy – GDF Suez, which has been operating a 2 X 150 MW thermal power generation units, is also aiming to distribute around 700 bubbles of 25 litre capacity, ensuring that each household can fetch water from these plants.

Speaking after inaugurating RO plants, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) – Gudur Mr. B. Srinivasulu said that the initiative could mitigate the drinking water problems of over 5,000 villagers.

Power project Chief Operating Officer (COO) Mr. Jamil Amin also spoke when he said that their company was implementing these initiatives in consultation with the stake-holders.
