Resumption of Gopannapally land: APNGOs to clarify their case to govt

July 03, 2014 10:57 pm | Updated April 21, 2016 11:38 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The APNGOs Association will meet Telangana Revenue Minister and department officials here on Friday to explain the pending court cases related to the Gopannapally land allotted to them.

Association president P. Ashok Babu said here on Thursday that the Revenue officials stated in a memo issued to the APNGOs Society that the land was resumed as part of the decision of Telangana Land Management Authority to take back the lands not utilised for the stated purpose.

Of the 189 acres allotted to the Housing Society, 100 acres of land was involved in litigation. The case relating to 90 acres of land was pending in the Supreme Court as the apex court reserved its judgement. The court issued a status quo order in February, 2011.

Another litigation pertaining to 10 acres of land was pending in the Division Bench of High Court and a status quo was granted in 2013, he said. As a result the society could not go for construction of the houses.

Mr. Ashok Babu said that the society with 1,644 members including 40 per cent of Telangana employees paid Rs. 4 crore to the GHMC for plotting of the land. Because of the status quo ordered by courts, the government could not alienate the land to the society.

The land allotted to TNGOs and Secretariat employees under different survey numbers in the same area could be registered in the name of members as those lands were free of any litigation, he said.
