The credentials of the candidates, who are appearing for the Eamcet repeatedly, will be verified thoroughly by the police before the commencement of the examination and their entry into the examination hall will be depending on the report being submitted by the police.
Over 500 candidates are now under the scanner of the police and arrangements are being made to check the background of another 600 applicants who have submitted their applications with a late fee of Rs. 5,000 and Rs.10,000.
“We are availing the services of the Police Department to avoid any irregularities in the Eamcet this year. The candidates whose credentials are suspicious will not be allowed to take the test,” said M.V. Ramana Rao, convener of the EAMCET-2014, while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday.
In all, 3.95 lakh students applied for Eamcet this year, in which 1.13 lakh applied for the medicine and the remaining 2.82 lakh for the engineering stream. “There is a drop in the number of applications for engineering this year. At the same time, the competition seems to be increased in medicine, where there is a rise in the number of applications,” he said.
To conduct the test in a foolproof manner, the students would be frisked thoroughly before being allowed into the examination halls and no electronic gadget would be allowed into the halls, Mr. Ramana Rao said.
