Asserting that his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi had put Andhra Pradesh in a better position vis-a-vis getting pending problems resolved by the Central government, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Saturday the State had the right to take to legal recourse if the assurances given were not fulfilled.
He said his statement during the Collectors’ conference that he would seek the Supreme Court’s intervention was misinterpreted as picking up a confrontation with the BJP. “It should not be perceived that way,” Mr. Naidu said.
Addressing the TDP coordination committee meeting, Mr. Naidu said he got a clear picture on the promises after his deliberations with Mr. Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, and he could see things moving in the right direction.
Against this backdrop, his remarks were blown out of proportion, Mr. Naidu said, and added that it was wrongly being portrayed as if it was a fight against the BJP.
The government was highlighting the issues impacting the State and all it was demanding was implementation of the A.P. Reorganisation Act and the commitments given by the Central government.
‘Comments unwarranted’
Mr. Naidu reiterated that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s comments on A.P. were unwarranted and it was an indisputable fact that transformation of Hyderabad into a global city had happened during the TDP regime.
