Heavy rain provided the much needed relief to people in Srikakulam who had been reeling under severe heat with mercury touching almost 38º C in the last week of June too.

It rained in three spells between Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Many people are happy with the rainfall in the town. With the impact of low pressure, several places received up to 1 cm rainfall. Farmers are happy with the rainfall which is useful for the agriculture activity.

It rained heavily in the first week of June but the atmosphere changed completely till June 25. The Agriculture Department officials are hopeful that the yield would be normal this time with the average rainfall in June.
