: The Chittoor rural (East) police on Saturday night nabbed five red sanders smuggling operatives from Tamil Nadu at Talambedu village, 10 km from here, and seized 27 logs of premier quality red sanders logs worth over Rs. 3 crore in the international market, and three SUVs. The operation took place when the accused were trying to cross over into T.N.
Chittoor SP Ghattamaneni Srinivas, speaking to the media here on Sunday, said that the five operatives were identified as V. Krishnamurthy; Jakir Hussain; David; Vinodh Kumar; and S. Subramanyam. Interestingly, Vinodh is an MBA student at Annamalai University. The seized logs and the accused were produced before the media, before being sent for remand.
