Task Force police seizes vital documents from Chennai

The Task Force Police, during a raid on the residences of red sanders smugglers in Chennai on Saturday and Sunday, seized vital documents pertaining to their assets.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Red Sanders Operations) V. Ratna told The Hindu that five teams conducted raids on the residences of smugglers lodged in Chittoor jail, including Soundara Rajan, Shanmuguam, Saravanan, and Ravi.

No cash found

“We have not seized any red sanders logs or cash from their premises. The residences of the relatives of the accused have also been searched,” she said.

“These raids are in accordance with the legal procedure, required for submitting the details pertaining to their arrests and charge-sheet. We faced no resistance from anyone in Chennai. If required, the assistance of our TN counterparts will be taken. The raids will continue as and when required,” the ASP said.

It may be noted that Soundara Rajan and his gang were nabbed in two operations at Chennai and West Bengal last month, leading to seizure of red sander logs worth Rs. 22 crore.
