Red sanders smuggler attempts suicide

A red sanders smuggler from Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu attempted suicide after the officials of Venkatagiri forest range took him into custody on Thursday night. Rajesh, 40, along with his accomplice, was caught red-handed while smuggling the precious wood in a vehicle near Venkatagiri forest area. As he reportedly confessed to the offence, the officials detained him and started making arrangements for his formal arrest. During the night, Rajesh tried to hang himself from the ceiling of the Forest Department office. The guards present there went to his rescue and shifted him to the SVR Ruia hospital in Tirupati.
