Red sanders seized from West Bengal godown

A.P. police raided a godown near Siliguri in West Bengal and seized eight tonnes of red sanders logs, whose value could be between Rs.10-20 crore.

Andhra Pradesh police raided a godown near Siliguri in West Bengal and seized eight tonnes of red sanders logs, whose value could be between Rs.10-20 crore. According to a top police official, the police raided the godown at Jaigaon near Siliguri on Sunday and seized the logs.

Police arrested one Soundarajan, stated to be a refugee from Myanmar and who was operating the godown. “It is a good catch outside the State”, the official added. The official said that the legal process to bring the arrested person to Andhra Pradesh was on.

Based on information provided by Soundarajan, the police were conducting raids on some places in Tamil Nadu. The official said that they were expecting to seize another three to five tonnes from there.
