Control stray dogs

GVMC Commissioner proposing to make city open defecation-free by October 2 is a laudable initiative, but cannot be achieved if the stray dogs are not controlled. The faeces of stray dogs can be seen dirtying the roads and pavements across the city.

The stray dogs should be either housed in kennels or shifted out of the city to make the city roads neat and clean.

‘Address traffic problems’

The vehicular traffic is set to increase with each passing day and adding to the woes is the encroachment of carriage way by traders, vendors and haphazard unauthorised parking of vehicles on the road.

The police and the GVMC must take immediate steps to address the issue in view of the alarming growth of traffic problems in the city.

‘PM misled’

It is difficult to believe that a stable person like Narendra Modi would not address the requirements of the State after bifurcation.

It appears he is being misled on the ground realities and the public opinion on the issue.

The Prime Minister must rise to the occasion and do the needful to release the amounts due to the State at the earliest before the public opinion turns totally against the incumbent government.

Rainwater harvesting

The ongoing campaign for installing rainwater harvesting pits appears to be ritualistic and done without proper planning and only to score brownie points with the political leadership.

The GVMC has to enforce it at all residences with a penal clause for not installing.
