RBI Governor promises help to Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh government's meeting with the RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan here on evoked positive response and won appreciation for its efforts to rebuild the State.

Mr Rajan also extended all possible help within the limits of regulations to support the State come out of devastation caused by Hudhudh cyclone.

Briefing the media persons after the meeting, finance minister Yanamala ramakrishnudu said the team of finance department, planning department officials and resource mobilisation committee headed by MP Sujana Choudhary appraised the RBI Governor the financial, social and economic problems being faced by the Stste following bifurcation.

Mr. Raghuramaiah Rajan was quite impressed with the mission, grid approach of the state government for overall development, he said.

Explaining the vulnerability of the State to natural calamities and the peculiarity of State facing drought in some districts and cyclone in other districts, the minister sought The support of banks and the RBI to the State.

Mr Sujana Choudhary said the RBI governor agreed that Farmers Empowerment Corporation was the best solution to help farmers come out of the crises.

He evinced interest on Stste government's proposal to raise Build Andhra municipal bonds for capital construction, he invited the government officials for a detailed presentation.

He positively responded to the proposal to set up regional office of RBI at Vijayawada and also hold it's next board meeting at Vijayawada.
