“Rayalaseema’s interests ignored”

June 24, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 03:06 pm IST - ANANTAPUR:

YSR Congress leader Ananta Venkatrami Reddy on Thursday accused the Chief Minister of cheating the people of the region yet again by playing the Rayalaseema card (its backwardness and lack of water resources) only to benefit the Krishna delta at the meetings of the KRMB. “For the last two years, Telangana has been drawing water from Srisailam citing power generation needs. A.P. has been doing so citing drinking water needs in the Krishna delta. As a result, there is not enough water to draw for the Handri-Neeva and a host of other projects catering to the needs of Rayalaseema,” said Mr. Reddy. Mr. Reddy demanded that the government ensure water for at least one crop for the region before deciding to store or draw water for the second and third crops in the coastal districts.
