District Legal Services Authority directs Women and Child Protection Department to ensure protection to Ramya
In the end, it was a relief for the young couple, Ramya, daughter of Tadepalligudem MLA Eli Nani, and Sundeep to be reunited here after being separated for five years. The couple was produced before the District Legal Services Authority here bringing the curtains on an emotional episode. The couple exchanged garlands and thanked DLSA secretary and District Judge M.V Ramana Kumari.
Ramya created a flutter here on Tuesday by appearing before the DLSA pleading for her safety and alleging that her family was bent on forcing her for a marriage after they knew that she had already married Sundeep almost four years ago.
The DLSA directed the Women and Child Protection Department to ensure protection was granted to Ramya and also directed the police to produce Sundeep within 24 hours. The Tadepalligudem police produced Sundeep on Tuesday night but the judge asked them to produce him on Wednesday morning.
Sundeep, who said that he was happy to be reunited with his wife after spending four years in isolation, however, was tight-lipped on the allegations that he was taken by the police. “I have endured the most testing time in my life only for the sake of the girl I loved,” he said.
With Ramya being the daughter of a high profile MLA, the incident caught the attention of the media and the story was played out throughout the day.
Emotions ran high on both the sides. Mr. Nani stuck to his guns that he had always loved his daughter and would do nothing to harm her.
“I pray to God that no father should face such embarrassment, shame and pain,” he was seen speaking to a TV channel.
The couple, on the other hand, remained firm and said that the family had tried to disrupt their marriage.
