She’s back. If in her first avatar, she was ‘Racha Ramulamma’ on Channel V6, a brief hiatus later, she returns to Telugu television as ‘Rocking Ramulamma’ on 6TV Telangana.

The chirpy anchor, whose real name is Ramya Krishna, made a hugely popular opening on the small screen when V6 introduced her as ‘Racha Ramulamma’. Her news bulletin Teen Maar also went on to became a rage with viewers.

The Hyderabadi was doing a course in physiotherapy when the tryst with television happened. Her impeccably native looks, traditional attire and innocent prattle in local slang earned her a stardom that is the envy of most others anchors in the industry.

For the last several months, Ramulamma stayed off the screen, only to reappear on 6TV now, hosting the hour-long Rocking Ramulamma Show . Airing at 9 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, the show has the anchor quizzing guests in her inimitable style and also involves viewer participation.

“It is not just about celebrities or politicians, but the show also hosts guests from among commoners, such as an auto driver or a municipal cleaner,” says K. Chidambar Reddy, programming in-charge. Ramulamma will also be seen in small news capsules that take a satirical look at the happenings of the day and telecast at different intervals on 6TV Telangana.
