Adilabad MP Ramesh Rathod of the TDP filed his papers from three constituencies, while his son Ritesh filed nominations from two on Wednesday.

The opening day of the nominations for elections to the State Assembly and Parliament was otherwise a dull affair in the 10 Assembly constituencies in the district.

The MP filed papers for the Adilabad (ST) Lok Sabha and Asifabad (ST) and Khanapur (ST) Assembly constituencies. His son Ritesh filed nominations for the Khanapur Assembly and Adilabad Parliamentary constituencies.

It is evident that the senior Rathod wants to keep his options open for contesting either the Assembly polls or the General Elections, based on the final state of his party’s alliance with the BJP.

Ritesh is more likely to be fielded from Khanapur Assembly seat which is currently held by his mother Suman Rathod.
