The ‘International Youth Day’ celebrations, organised by Sri Venkateswara University’s (SVU) Department of Psychology in partnership with the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development – Tamil Nadu, marked by a series of events in Tirupati, here on Friday. The varsity students accompanied by NCC cadets (from S.V. Arts College) took out a rally from psychology department building to the Srinivasa auditorium, via SVU Administrative building, raising slogans highlighting importance of youth.

SVU Registrar M. Devarajuluurged the younger generation to scale up their skills and work towards serving the society, as well as surviving in the current stage of globalisation.

Later, a day-long workshop on the theme ‘Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Production and Consumption’ was conducted at Srinivasa Auditorium. Speaking during the event, Urban SP R. Jayalakshmi called upon the youngsters to focus on their goals to achieve the long cherished dreams of their parents and themselves.

Rallapalli Raghava Trust director R. Sudha Rani, SVU Rector M. Bhaskar, SVU College of Arts principal K. Munirathnam, SVU College of Sciences principal R. Abbaiah, coordinators V. Srikanth Reddy and D. Jamuna, and students took part.
