The depiction of ‘Super Star’ Rajnikanth as a valorous hero in the period film ‘Kochadaiyaan’ has created a lot of expectations among his fans.
The ‘Thalaivar’ film will certainly become a ‘global phenomenon’ when he gets Lord Venkateswara’s blessings, his fans strongly believe. A 500-strong contingent of Rajnikant fans from Sholingur town in the adjoining Vellore district of Tamil Nadu embarked on a spiritual Tirumala trek, praying for the film’s success.
The troop reached the city by bus on Wednesday morning, began their trek by carrying portraits of Sri Venkateswara and Rajnikanth. Dressed in black T-shirts with the imprint of Rajni in ‘Kochadaiyaan attire’, the members of the fan club took a saunter through the arterial roads of the city, catching the attention of the passersby. As carrying posters glorifying individuals is not permitted at Tirumala, the Rajni portraits were carried only up to the foot of the hills.
The trek served a social cause too. “We distributed leaflets to the public to create awareness on the importance of voting in the ensuing general elections, besides spreading the message on the ill-effects of smoking and consuming liquor,” N. Ravi, treasurer of the Vellore District Rajnikanth Fans’ Association, told The Hindu . Before embarking on the journey, the fans informed their Chennai headquarters about their vow to trek the seven hills.
After praying at the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Venkateswara on Wednesday, the fans announced to walk down the steps to reach downhill. Though it is not a practice followed generally by devotees, it’s perhaps essential for these die-hard Rajni fans to make Kochadaiyaan a global phenomenon!
