Rajahmundry gears up for valedictory of drama fete

Arrangements are in place for conducting the valedictory of the State government’s theatre festival ‘Nandi Natakotsavalu’ in the city on May 30. The colourful event will be held at Subrahmanya Maidanam, in which comedian from the Telugu tinsel world Ali will make a special appearance.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will attend as chief guest and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Kodela Siva Prasada Rao will be the guest of honour in the function, in which ‘Nandi’ awards will be presented to theatre artistes and technicians for the years 2013 and 2014.

Collector H. Arun Kumar along with Rajahmundry MP M. Murali Mohan conducted a meeting here on Thursday to review the arrangements for the valedictory function. Mr. Arun Kumar asked the officials of all departments to work with close coordination and make the function a grand success. He said that all the important junctions of the city would be illuminated.

Mr. Murali Mohan said that 12 awards in four categories would be presented each to the winners of the two years. In addition, individual awards would be presented to 54 others, he said. Besides the artistes and technicians, the philanthropists who came forward with their donations for the renovation of Sri Venkateswara Anam Kalakendram would also be felicitated on the occasion.

Additional Joint Collector D. Markandeyulu, Sub-Collector V. Vijayarama Raju and other officials were present.
