Congress party’s star campaigner Chiranjeevi on Monday said that former Union Minister and BJP candidate for Rajampeta parliamentary constituency Daggubati Purandeswari chose to contest from Rayalaseema out of greed for power, though she did not even know the boundaries of the region.
Addressing a road show at Madanapalle town, Mr. Chiranjeevi campaigned for the Congress candidates of the assembly segments in the Rajampeta LS purview. He said that Ms. Purandeswari ditched Congress party after enjoying 10 years of power and plum positions at the Centre. He said that the BJP would be routed in the coming elections as people were afraid of its religious fundamentalism.
Mr. Chiranjeevi flayed the TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu for betraying the Backward Classes by failing to keep his promise to allot 100 seats to them in the elections. He said that only the Congress is capable of rendering social justice and listed out the various schemes promised by the Congress in its manifesto.
The actor politician said that YSRC chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy will loot the state if voted to power.
His road show passed through the arterial junctions in the town and drew lukewarm response from the public.
