Pulla Rao calls meet

March 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - ONGOLE:

Agriculture Minister P. Pulla Rao has called a meeting of farmers in Hyderabad to resolve the issue of remunerative prices for timber. All India Kisan Sabha State general secretary Ravula Venkaiah, who led a picketing of the Agriculture Market Committee office here earlier in the day, said ryot representatives from the district were called for the meeting as part of efforts to bring about an understanding between paper mills and social forestry planters.

The planters are upset with the paper mills not honouring the agreement facilitated by the district administration to purchase subabul at Rs. 4,400 per tonne and eucalyptus at Rs. 4,600 per tonne.
