Taking a serious note of fleecing of passengers by some private bus operators ahead of Sankranti festival, Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao on Sunday warned private bus operators of stringent action including seizure of buses for resorting to malpractice.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, he said: “I have given clear instructions to the Transport Commissioner to go for a special drive from Monday and seize buses which collect huge fares.”

The RTC would operate 1,200 special buses to clear the passengers rush during the festival, the Minister said, adding that more than as many as 1,600 buses would join the RTC fleet soon.
