It was a perfect homecoming for Tollywood Superstar Mahesh Babu as he visited Burripalem village in Tenali mandal on Sunday.

Mahesh was here on a visit to his “adopted,’’ village, which would be developed as a model village.

Along with his brother-in-law and Guntur MP Galla Jayadev and Tenali MLA Alapati Rajendra Prasad, he laid foundation stone for developmental works to be taken up at a cost of Rs.2.16 crore.

Social change

“I want a social change to sweep the village and priority will be given to health and education. I want all girls to be educated in our schools and it is my endeavour to see development in the village. My visits will be more frequent in future,’’ said Mahesh, known to avoid public appearances.

Dressed in a black checks shirt, the Prince wooed the crowds who turned up in large numbers with his charming smile. People were seen clambering on rooftops, buildings and open spaces on the dusty roads to catch a glimpse of the matinee idol.

Special bonding

Reminiscing the fond memories his families had for the village, he said his father had a special bonding with the village.

Village development plan

A movie “Burripalem Bullodu,’’ shot in the village with Krishna in the lead role, was a hit. Mr. Jayadev said the visit of Mahesh would kick-start development in the village. A village development plan had been prepared under which social works too would be taken up.

Mr. Rajendra Prasad, Vijayawada MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and Tenali RDO Narasimhulu were also present.
