Authority inks pact with a foreign consultant firm

Machilipatnam Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Vice-Chairman P. Wilson Babu on Friday said that the Netherlands-based Royal Haskoning DHV consulting private limited began the exercise of preparing master plan and zonal development plans for the MUDA’s 426.16 square kilometres area. Speaking to newsmen, Mr. Wilson Babu said that the MUDA has signed an agreement with the firm on March 20. “We have selected the firm keeping in the view of its experience in port planning and industrial cluster development in India and abroad,” he said.

At least nine months of duration has been fixed to bring out a comprehensive master plan suggesting better management of coastal belt, proposed Machilipatnam port area and other natural resources in the MUDA’s jurisdiction spreading Machilipatnam and Pedana mandals in Krishna district.

‘Spur development’

In an official release, MUDA Chairman and Krishna District Collector B. Lakshmikantam has said that the master plan would help in achieving economically vibrant development in the MUDA region.
