The State government has issued orders appointing in-charge Director General of Police B. Prasada Rao as the DGP and the Head of the Police Force.

Subsequently, the government forwarded the list of senior officers of DGP cadre to the Union Public Service Commission as per the Supreme Court guidelines for the selection of the DGP.

The selection committee comprising a UPSC member, Union Home Ministry Secretary and State Chief Secretary met in Delhi on Wednesday and shortlisted the names of T.P.Das, Aruna Bahuguna and Prasada Rao and forwarded it to the State government.

Interestingly, the petition filed by Mr. Dinesh Reddy seeking extension of his tenure till September 2014 had come up for hearing on Wednesday and the Tribunal issued notices to the State government and Mr. Prasada Rao directing them to file their replies to the petition.
