In the wake of Supreme Court order on the elections to MPTCs and ZPTCs, the State Election Commission directed the government here on Friday to prepare and publish photo electoral rolls in all Panchayat Raj bodies by March 10.

The Commission issued separate instructions to the District Panchayat Officers, Mandal Parishad Development Officers and CEOs of Zilla Praja Parishads to prepare the electoral rolls gram-panchayat wise, MPTC and ZPTC-wise and display them in their respective offices.

It also said that electoral rolls be published by adopting January 1, 2014 as the qualifying date to enable the newly-enrolled voters to participate in the voting. The Elections to the MPTCs and ZPTCs were delayed as the government did not finalise reservations.

Panchayat Raj Department officials said that steps were taken to submit the list of reservations for the 14,591 MPTCs and 1,094 ZPTCs by Friday night itself to enable the Commission conduct elections. The Supreme Court directed the Commission to take steps to issue notification for MPTC and ZPTC elections by March 10 and submit a compliance report.
