Power utilities staff relent

The Telangana State Power Utilities Relieved Employees’ Joint Action Committee suspended its agitation in Hyderabad in response to an invitation from the AP power utilities for discussions on finding a solution to their problem.

They have been staging a relay hunger strike from February 8 in protest against their removal by the electricity companies of Telangana after bifurcation and lack of response to their appeal for induction into the A.P. power utilities.

JAC convener N. Giridhar stated in a press release that APTransco Joint Managing Director Dinesh Paruchuri and APGenco Director (HR) G.V. Appa Rao called on the protesting employees on Saturday and told them that the A.P. Government took a serious note of their plight and was working on a solution.
