Power generation started in Nagarjunasagar

Telangana government has started 707 MW and 790 MW power generation from Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam projects respectively in Nalgonda on Monday morning to compensate the short supply after power generation went off in Simhadri Thermal Power Plant-1 and Simhadri Thermal Power Plant-2 in Visakhapatanam due to Cyclone Hudhud.

Speaking to The Hindu , Genco Officials told, Simhadri power plants had 1000 MW generation capacity each in which Telangana had 53 per cent share (1060 MW). Since these 1060 power supply to Telangana was shut, the officials said that they have stopped the six hour power supply to over 10 lakh agriculture pump sets across 10 Telangana districts since Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, the Telangana government held discussions with Krishna water board authorities and got permissions to start the power generation from Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar since Monday morning to compensate the loss.
