‘Positive signals on Kolleru from Centre’

Kamineni meets Harsh Vardhan

Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Harsh Vardhan gave an assurance to Health Minister and Kaikalur MLA Kamineni Srinivas to extend necessary help to those dependent on the Kolleru lake for their livelihood subject to the Supreme Court judgment on the proposed downsizing of the water body from contour to 5 to 3, which is in the process of adjudication.

Addressing media persons in Delhi after a meeting with the Union Minister on Monday, Mr. Srinivas said he stressed on the fact that no compensation has been paid to the affected people, including those who own lands. Mr. Harsh Vardhan promised to try to find a solution to the problem that impacts 133 fishermen societies.
