Port unions to stage protest

Port and dock workers unions in Visakhapatnam have decided to hold a mass dharna in front of administrative block of Visakhapatnam Port to protest against corporatisation on March 9.

At a meeting held here, representatives of HMS, AITUC, INTUC, Janata Port & Dock Workers’ Union (independent) and other unions under the chairmanship of AITUC leader V.V. Rama Rao discussed threat to job security due to corporatisation. The call by central trade unions to go on indefinite strike on or after March 9 also figured at the meeting.
