Teppotsavam, the float festival, was celebrated with fervour in Bhadrachalam town on Sunday evening.

The colourful fete, a striking feature of the Vaikunta Ekadasi festivities, attracted scores of devotees.

Hamsavahanam, the swan-shaped brightly boat, sailed through the Godavari waters with the processional deities of the historic Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple. While the Hamsavahanam made circular rounds for Teppotsavam, devotees watched the fete from vantage positions on the bank. The entire Karakatta premises reverberated with Vedic hymns chanted by the priests and Jai Sri Ram slogans echoed by devotees. Firecrackers lit up the skies, creating a breathtaking reflection of the dazzling spectacle in the still waters. Earlier, the deities were brought to the venue in a ceremonial procession.

Minister for Horticulture R Venkat Reddy, Collector Siddharth Jain and Superintendent of Police A V Ranganath were present. Six boats were positioned at the bathing ghat to meet exigencies.
