AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi has decided to hold another round of meeting with Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and the PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana on April 18 in New Delhi.
Congress sources said the Chief Minister and the PCC president got a call from Mr. Gandhi’s office on Friday. The two State leaders had held a similar meeting with Mr. Gandhi on February 15.
It is understood that the AICC vice-president would now focus attention on Andhra Pradesh ahead of the series of elections slated later this year and is likely to take a briefing from the two leaders about the latest political situation, besides the burning issues that could impact the government and party’s fortunes in the elections. The meeting assumes significance in the wake of CBI charge-sheet filed against Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy last week. The Congress government is on a sticky wicket in the Jagan assets case as six of its Ministers have been served notices for their role in the issuance of 26 controversial GOs. The government is unable to take a decision on the continuance of these Ministers in the Cabinet.
The Chief Minister, who has been touring highlighting the new welfare programmes launched by his government, is expected to brief Mr. Gandhi. The PCC chief could present a report about the steps taken by him to reconstitute the district and constituency level committees.
