The district police, who produced Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi in court in a case related to the alleged manhandling of then Collector A.K. Singhal in 2005, have failed to execute the non-bailable warrant (NBW) pending against MIM president and MP Asaduddin Owaisi.
About 30 persons, including MIM MP (A-1), MLAs Akbaruddin Owaisi, Afzar Khan, Mauzam Khan, Mumtaz Khan and Pasha Khadri, were accused in (Crime No. 130 / 2005) cases booked against them.
While the other accused filed ‘recall petition’ (accused should appear in court and explain reasons for not doing so) and request cancellation of the NBW) and were presenting themselves or their representatives before the court, the Owaisi brothers failed to do so since 2010. Taking a serious view, the court issued a NBW against the brothers.
After Akbaruddin’s arrest, the Patancheru police decided to present him before the Excise and Prohibition Court. This was in connection with a case registered against the MIM leaders, for allegedly manhandling Mr. Singhal over a road widening issue at Muttangi on April 16, 2005.

“We have informed the MP several times that an NBW was pending against him and that he should appear in court or file a recall petition. He did neither but we cannot act in haste,” said a senior officer.
Meanwhile, another case was filed against Akbaruddin Owaisi in a magistrate’s court here on Friday for his ‘hate speech’ on the basis of a complaint by BJP district president A. Vishnuvardhan Reddy.
In his petition, Mr. Reddy informed the court that he came to know about the hate speech on January 4. He said Akbaruddin had insulted the Hindu community by questioning the birthplace of Lord Rama.
He wanted the Two Town police to register a case against him.
However, the police said that they were yet to receive directions from the court.
