Police vow to make Tirupati ‘Safe City’

Officials are planning to launch ‘Command and Control Centre’ at Tirumala

The week-long campaign - ‘Nava Nirmana Deeksha’, aimed at inspiring people to contribute towards the development of the State, came to a grand close with the ‘Maha Sankalpam’ observed at various government agencies and private institutions, here on Wednesday.

The Tirupati Urban Police, under the leadership of Superintendent of Police R. Jaya Lakshmi, have reiterated their commitment to make Tirupati as ‘Safe City’, for the denizens as well as the multitude of pilgrims visiting the temple city.

Buoyed by the success of state-of-the-art ‘Command and Control Centre’ in Tirupati, the officials are planning to launch the same at Tirumala, to enhance the security and surveillance measures.

This would further be followed by CCTV cameras at business establishments and residential areas (particularly at the apartments).

Besides this, the officials will also be conducting special drives against issuance of SIM cards through fake identities and keeping a check on property offences by organising the beat system and technical teams.

The Police Department has also announced to strengthen measures with regard to ‘Crime Against Women’, which includes utilisation of ‘SHE’ teams, awareness programmes, formation of ‘Mahila Badratha Committees’, anti-ragging committees, family counselling centres etc.,

Red sanders smuggling

They have further expressed their commitment to deal more effectively with red sanders smuggling issues across the Seshachalam region. Varsities across the city also took part in the event and vowed to extend their support towards the development of ‘Navya Andhra’.

Meanwhile, Tirupati MLA M. Suguna along with MEPMA Special Director Chinna Tataiah, MCT Commissioner V. Vinay Chand and other officials, took part in the ‘Maha Sankalpam’ programme at TUDA office and spoke on the discussions which were conducted during the week-long event.

In Chittoor, people’s representatives and government machinery vowed to strive hard the for integrated development of the district, giving top priority to Neeru Chettu programme and water projects.

Chittoor ZP Chairperson Geervani Chandraprakash said that the Neeru Chettu programme was a grand success in the district .

Collector Siddarth Jain, MLA Satyaprabha and officials of various government departments were also present.

Srikakulam Staff Reporter adds

Labour Minister K. Atchannaidu, Srikakulam MP K. Rammohan and other leaders rededicate themselves for the development of the district with the active support of the State government. They participated in ‘Maha Sankalpam’ in Tekkali and urged people to support the government which was striving hard to rebuild the State which had lost in all aspects with the bifurcation.

Srikakulam MLA Gunda Lakshmi Devi, Srikakulam Collector P. Lakshmi Narasimham, Joint Collector Vivek Yadav and others participated in the programme.
