After differences cropped up with his wife over a property issue, a lawyer hired a gang at Rs. 2 lakh to eliminate the latter

The Kodumur police on Wednesday unravelled the mystery behind the murder of a 68-year-old woman and arrested the gang responsible for the crime.

Speaking to the media, Deputy SP Y.V. Ramana Kumar said that Rajakumari was murdered in a gruesome manner by none other than her husband and lawyer Prahlada Reddy (70).

According to the police, Mr. Prahlada Reddy married Rajakumari as his second wife 1981. He gifted her a house site at the time of marriage and later, both constructed a house there.

However, he had been pestering Rajakumari to transfer the property in his name for quite some time, which was refused by her, leading to differences between the couple. Mr. Prahlada Reddy attempted twice to eliminate Rajakumari, but failed.

Finally, he hired a gang from Mahabubnagar at Rs. 2 lakh to kill his wife. The gang members have been identified as Anilkumar Sarma, Krishna Goud and Srinivasa Goud, who kidnapped Rajakumari from the court complex on June 22 and killed her. Later, they abandoned the body at Timmandoddi in C. Belagal mandal.

The accused also engaged a supporting team to assist the hired assassins, who have been identified as Adeppa, Narasappa, Srinivasa Singh, Sumana Rani and Suchita. The police arrested the gang members and the supporting team. The vehicle used in the offence and mobiles were recovered from the accused. SP K. Raghurami Reddy appreciated the police team for solving the murder mystery.
