Police to probe into suicide of degree student

Despite her plea to the college management to watch the video-footage before taking the decision of debarring her from writing exams on charges of resorting to malpractice

The police have launched an inquiry into suicide of degree second year student, Priyanka (20), who committed suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of a private college building here on Monday.

She was cremated at her native village Kalyapur in Renjarla mandal on Tuesday.

Deputy IG of Police N. Suryanarayana and Superintendent of Police Tarun Joshi paid homage to her by placing floral wreathes on the body. They also consoled the bereaved family. A number of villagers, students and police personnel attended the funeral.

Priyanka’s father Gangadhar is an employee in the District Police Office.

Meanwhile, she reportedly gave dying statement in which she said she did not resort to malpractice in the exam and under no reason she was denied to appear for exams. The authorities disallowed her despite she appealed to them to watch the video-footage before taking the decision, she said in her statement.
