Revenue Divisional Officer V. Veerabrahmaiah, who is also the Returning Officer for the by-election to the Tirupati Assembly constituency, received 31 sets of nominations on Tuesday, taking the total number of nominations to 48.

Congress candidate Rudraraju Sreedevi filed two sets of nominations, which were proposed by Chinta Revathi, wife of former Member of Parliament Chinta Mohan. Meanwhile, Ms. Sreedevi’s attempt to address the public after filing her nomination was thwarted by police on grounds that she had not taken prior permission. Congress flags carried by party workers ahead of the meeting were also seized. However, the candidate addressed passers-by from atop her vehicle.
