Police sound red alert in Kurnool

SP asks officials to conduct intensive checks in bus stands, railway stations

Superintendent of Police A. Ravikrishna sounded a red alert in Kurnool district on Wednesday evening in view of the Krishna Pushkarams and Independence Day and incidence of terrorist activities in the country.

The Kurnool SP instructed police officials in a meeting in the District Police Office here to intensify checking of vehicles at the entry and exit points at the checkposts along the district border.

Conduct intensive checks in bus stands, railway stations, lodges and other places, be alert and accord priority to visible policing, he told police officials.

Conduct checks with bomb squads and sniffer dog squads at all the important places, Mr. Ravikrishna told them.

The DSPs and Circle Inspectors must brief every policeman on the security aspects and provide security to VVIPs who come to the district. Mr. Ravikrishna told police officials to conduct a flag march with Vajra vehicle and keep track of the recordings in closed circuit cameras. Adequate security arrangements must be made for Independence Day celebrations, he said.

He told police personnel to keep a watch on movement of suspects and urged the people to alert the police officials or dial 100 if they spotted any suspects or suspicious objects.

The SP later inspected the Independence Day parade rehearsal by policemen in the Police Parade Grounds.
