Police Commissioner M.A. Saleem said the city police was seriously investigating the allegation of rape and dowry harassment levelled by the daughter of a retired IAS officer against her in-laws.
After the case was transferred to Mysuru and a fresh FIR was registered in the V.V. Puram police station, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Narasimharaja division) Umesh Shet was appointed as the investigating officer.

Mr. Shet will be assisted by two inspectors, including a woman inspector. “Investigation into the case is continuing,” he said while refusing to elaborate.
The retired IAS officer’s daughter had alleged that she was subjected to dowry harassment by her in-laws, and was sexually assaulted by her brother-in-law when she was eight months pregnant.
An FIR under Section 307, which deals with attempt to murder, was registered in February against the ex-bureaucrat’s son-in-law by the latter’s elder brother, who the bureaucrat’s daughter had accused of rape.
In the complaint, the elder brother said that he was attacked by his younger brother with a machete. The complainant had even mentioned the name of the ex-bureaucrat.
