Police probe into collapse yet to begin

The Mahankali Police are yet to launch an investigation into the criminal case registered against City Light Hotel owner Syed Hasan Ali, as they were busy with the removal of debris.

With rescue operations and rubble clearance working extending till Tuesday night, the police could not formally take up the probe in the case of rash and negligent act resulting in loss of lives. The work of identifying the bodies, overseeing medical treatment to the injured, rescuing persons trapped in the debris and clearance of the rubble was assigned to different officers of the police station. North Zone DCP R. Jaya Lakshmi and Additional DCP T. Narotham Reddy, along with investigating officer in the case and Mahankali ACP N. Mahender were at the mishap site, supervising rescue operations.

Even Mr. Hasan Ali, who lost his son and nephew in the collapse, was admitted to the hospital having slipped into depression. With the debris removal working coming to nearly an end late in the night, the investigators are planning to collect documents of the building, details of its original owners, record statements of the injured persons and kin of the victims from Wednesday.
