Police on lookout for kingpin of kidnapper gang

The Kurnool police are on the lookout for the kingpin of a kidnapper gang who escaped from police custody in Anantapur district recently. Boya Mandla Sunil Kumar and his gang members are wanted in several kidnap and murder for gain cases in the district.

According to SP A. Ravikrishna, Sunil Kumar, hailing from Kothapet near Proaddutur in Kadapa district, befriended a few engineering students and created a gang to kidnap rich persons for a ransom. In case, the victims refused to pay the money, the gang murdered the kidnap victims.

In 2013, the gang kidnapped a medical shop owner at Tadipatri, murdered and set the body ablaze near Chandrapalli in Peapuly mandal of Kurnool district. The Kurnool police busted the gang in April last year and recovered 500 gram gold and other valuables. However, after getting freed on bail, the gang resorted to kidnapping again.

Sunil Kumar and his gang of six members have kidnapped eight persons so far and collected over 1 kg gold and a huge amount as ransom.

The gang used SUV and other vehicles to commit the offences. The SP urged people, who have knowledge of the movement of the gang, to inform police on mobile numbers: 9440795521, 9440795507, 9491085302 or 08518 279001.
