Telugu Desam President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who turned 65 on Monday, was greeted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor E S L Narasimhan and several party functionaries, even as the TDP leader declared that he was dedicating his life for welfare of Telugu people.

The Prime Minister telephoned Mr. Naidu and greeted him. Mr. Modi also tweeted: Dear @ncbn Garu, wishing you a very Happy Birthday. May you be blessed with a long life, filled with good health. The Chief Minister tweeted: Thank you for your kind wishes @narendramodi ji.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao also telephoned Mr. Naidu and conveyed birthday wishes.

Mr. Naidu cut a cake and inaugurated health camps for donation of blood and for free dental and eye check-up at NTR Bhavan, the party headquarters here. He also distributed Braille laptops to the visually impaired.

Several party leaders from both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, besides his cabinet colleagues greeted him by presenting bouquets. There was a lot of pushing and jostling at the venue as many party functionaries tried to get closer to their leader and personally extend birthday wishes.

Briefly addressing the gathering, Mr. Naidu expressed his gratitude to the sacrifices made by TDP workers and wished that people in both the Telugu-speaking States be healthy and prosperous. He said that he would strive for all-round development of Andhra Pradesh.

Several leaders who could not meet him were disappointed as Mr. Naidu could not spend much time. He later left for Anantapur District where Mr. Naidu will spend the day, which includes a visit to Gollapalli Reservoir.
